FAQ's

Building a pool is not something you do everyday, and to get the best product for your backyard you need to do your research.  We have assembled some very common questions that you want to know before building a pool.  If your questions are not answered here, feel free to contact us for more specific help.

What types of pools do you build?

Swim Things builds vinyl lined pools and gunite pools.  Vinyl lined pools are a very durable and long lasting residential style pool.  They are available in many shapes and sizes and are also customizable to fit your application.  Gunite pools are shot concrete that is formed to fit any custom design.  Using gunite is a great application for commercial or residential pools and it allows the customer the ability to create a masterpeice in their backyard.

Why would I buy a vinyl lined pool instead of gunite?
Typically a vinyl lined pool is more affordable than a gunite pool.  It is also very durable, chemical resistant, low maintenance and soft to the touch.  Vinyl lined pools can be custom designed just like a gunite pool and can save you up to 40% of the cost of a gunite pool.

How big of  a pool do I need in my backyard?
Most residential pools average 600 sq. ft. or about 16 ft. wide and 36 ft. long.  This is where our designers will help to determine how big a pool you need.  There are a number of factors that determine size of your pool such as; do you want a diving board or slide, is the pool for recreation or entertainment, how much space does your yard allow for a pool, or how deep do you want the pool.

How can I be assured that your company is a reputable, quality pool builder?
First of all, check our list of references. There is no better way to become comfortable with our quality standards and customer service than to speak directly with our existing customers. You can also check with other local professional organizations to research our reputation and workmanship.
